It's October 2012, And We're Making Progress Toward Helping Senior Dachshunds

Last month, we made possibly the biggest announcement of the 21 years that Dachshund Delights has been around. You can read all about it by clicking here. But, to sum it up, we're founding a sanctuary and hospice for senior dachshunds, and naming it Scarlett's House, after our own beloved Scarlett.

It's July, 2012, And We're Missing A Friend

This isn't the story we set out to write. That story was a celebration. This isn't the story that we wanted to write, although we knew we would eventually. This story is a memorial. But because the subject of the story naturally inspired such things, it's a celebration as well.

It's May, 2012, And We Invite You To Join Us In Rhyming

On May 12, we mark the two-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Edward Lear. If Lear is remembered at all these days, it's usually as the author of The Owl And The Pussycat. Yin and yang. Balance in the universe. Doesn't it make sense that if you have one dog with only one hind leg, who balances on his front legs when he eats, that you should have a dog born without front legs, just to even things up? Our good friend and Northeast Ohio neighbor, Pat Holcomb, thinks so. And those two are only part of her pack.

It's January 2013, And Our Quest Continues

A few days before the end of 2012, we got an e-mail from Animal Friends, a fine shelter in Pittsburgh, not so far from us. In it was a link to a video about an old dog named Chance. He was found wandering as a stray, identified as one of their alumni and brought to the shelter.

It's February 2013, And Frankie Rolls On

My journey in life would never be what it is had it not been, nor would this book have come to life, had it not been for my wheelie dog, Frankie. I am no longer the same person I was because of this little dog with a spirit bigger than life itself. I see, speak and think in a new way because of her. I've found a peace about myself I never had before. Though I miss you dearly, little one, the abundant joy you brought to my world lives forever in my heart.
